Challenging Establishment

If we say we know how the world and our society works, we don’t know how it works. Just like Feynman said about quantum mechanics.

In this new millennium I feel there are challenges made upon our established institution, possibly driven by our inquisitive and critical mind when focusing on the strange events taken place in the last 100 years or so.

Unaware to many, central banks took power over states, even the most powerful ones. This likely triggered and encouraged the most infamous wars in human history occurring during the 20th century.

Religious Institutions rise their influence to further their agendas by even resorting to the Media and taking advantage of the search for oneness and connection existent in all human beings. They haven’t ever provided for union between all people, instead they perpetuated segregation between different cults.

Corporations rose their influence, surpassing many states, even my home country South Africa, in economic power and possibly manipulating them. They even control forms of mass media and prevent education from becoming efficient, trying to maintain the status quo by not informing and even making people unaware to the matters that are really relevant today:

Why the economic crisis? Where does the money come from? Why do we have so much useless forms of entertainment? Why aren’t we taking full advantage of our advanced technology for our benefit? Why are we still burning these primitive forms of energy instead of tapping the abundance of renewable energies available to us? Why do we face scarcity if we can do so much better in resource management?

If these questions were answered we would realize that crime, poverty, scarcity, racism, intolerance, bigotry would have no reason to exist. They are solely produced by our manipulated environment in which we are raised. Manipulated in someone’s own self interest.

“Our species needs, and deserves, a citizenry with minds wide awake and a basic understanding of how the world works.”

“The old appeals to racial, sexual and religious chauvinism and to rabid nationalism are beginning not to work. A new consciousness is developing which sees the earth as a single organism and recognizes that an organism at war with itself is doomed. We are one planet.”
Carl Sagan (1934-1996)

Given this I will leave you with some documentaries representing these announcements of change in the global community. View at your leisure and I challenge you to do your own research and your own thinking about what they discuss. Comment here, I dare you to do so.

Religion

Religulous

“The irony of religion is that because of its power to divert man to destructive courses, the world could actually come to an end… Plain fact is, religion must die for mankind to live. The hour is getting very late to be able to indulge having in key decisions made by religious people. By irrationalists. By those who would steer the ship of state not by a compass, but by the equivalent of reading the entrails of a chicken. George Bush prayed a lot about Iraq, but he didn’t learn a lot about it… Faith means making a virtue out of not thinking. It’s nothing to brag about. And those who preach faith and enable and elevate it are intellectual slaveholders keeping mankind in a bondage to fantasy and nonsense that has spawned and justified so much lunacy and destruction. Religion is dangerous because it allows human beings who don’t have all the answers to think that they do. Most people would think it’s wonderful when someone says, “I’m willing, Lord! I’ll do whatever you want me to do!” Except that since there are no gods actually talking to us, that void is filled in by people with their own corruptions and limitations and agendas… And anyone who tells you they know, they just know what happens when you die, I promise you you don’t. How can I be so sure? Because I don’t know, and you do not possess mental powers that I do not. The only appropriate attitude for man to have about the big questions is not the arrogant certitude that is the hallmark of religion, but doubt. Doubt is humble, and that’s what man needs to be, considering that human history is just a littany of getting shit dead wrong… This is why rational people, anti-religionists, must end their timidity and come out of the closet and assert themselves. And those who consider themselves only moderately religious really need to look in the mirror and realize that the solace and comfort that religion brings you comes at a horrible price… If you belonged to a political party or a social club that was tied to as much bigotry, misogyny, homophobia, violence, and sheer ignorance as religion is, you’d resign in protest. To do otherwise is to be an enabler, a mafia wife, for the true devils of extremism that draw their legitimacy from the billions of their fellow travelers. If the world does come to an end here, or wherever, or if it limps into the future, decimated by the effects of religion-inspired nuclear terrorism, let’s remember what the real problem was. We learned how to precipitate mass death before we got past the neurological disorder of wishing for it. That’s it. Grow up or die.” Bill Maher’s final word’s in the movie Religulous

“Once we realize that it is science, technology and hence human creativity which creates progress in our lives, we are then able to recognize what our true priorities are for social and personal growth and progress.” Peter Joseph – The Zeitgeist Movement

Challenging the Establishment is one of the most difficult things to do in our daily life. Specially when you want to pass such information to others.
